As Monika first reported in
May, Pedro Almodóvar’s next movie is
The Skin I’m In, a horror movie that begins shooting today which Almodóvar said will be "the harshest film I’ve ever written." The official casting list has been revealed, and surprisingly, his modern muse
Penelope Cruz is nowhere to be found.
The Skin I’m In does reunite the director with Antonio Banderas, the star of Almodóvar’s edgy Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, which made novel use of a wind-up bath toy, but his female costar will be Elena Anaya, who was in Talk to Her. The Skin I’m In is based on the novel Tarantula by Thierry Jonquet, and while I’m sure some changes were made in its adaptation for the big screen, its description on Amazon.co.uk, is certainly worth noting. It’s slightly different than the shorter description on Amazon, which gives away all the goods. The main characters are a plastic surgeon who has an operating room in his basement and keeps his wife Eve locked up in their bedroom, a killer on the loose, and a kidnapper who tortures his prey in cruel and novel ways.
And about that surgeon: "Eve is only allowed out to be paraded at cocktail parties and on the last Sunday of each month, when the couple visit a young woman in a mental asylum. Following these outings, Lafargue humiliates Eve by forcing her to perform lewd sexual acts with strangers while he watches through a one-way mirror."
Perhaps it’s not Cruz’s recent marriage to Javier Bardem or a secret pregnancy that’s keeping her away from the script, but that she doesn’t want to end up in some sort of Story of O-esque scenario. Late-night Cinemax viewers might remember Anaya from more titillating fare like Sex and Lucia, so perhaps she was more comfortable or suited to the material.
It will be interesting to see what kind of changes Almodóvar has made to the story in his screenplay, but the text itself sounds quite different from the typical Eli Roth torture trip. I have no doubt that this auteur will manage to delve into this very dark tale and make it a delightfully squeamish thriller.
I haven’t read the novel yet, but you can be assured that I will be picking it up soon, even if I have to order it from the UK! Have you read it yet?

Medical Fetishes II
Medical scenes in the BDSM community use a myriad of actual medical instruments including sounds. Used heavily in the gay scene for years, these once surreptitious implements are now used globally. Seeking an edgier, more exotic form of penile stimulation, the sound has come out of the closet and into the scene play clinics and dungeons everywhere.
Sounds are medical devices designed to be inserted into the male urethra or the female urethra and uterus. They consist of a set of smooth stainless steel rods in graduated sizes or a singular piece, which may be straight or slightly curved on the ends. In actual medical purposes, sounds are used for gradually, gently enlarging the urethra or for measurements. In a BDSM medical scene they can be a source of exceptional sensual stimulation. Again, with prudence, this sort of play is not something you should engage in with someone who is inexperienced or who does not understand all the necessary precautions otherwise, your fun can result in infection, injury, or other traumatic problems.
There is a natural curve within the penile urethra, which the slight curve of the sound is designed to accommodate. It allows the sound to slip down the penis and into the bladder. To insert easily, generous amounts of sterile lubricant without preservative or nonoxynol-9 (these are highly irritating to the urethra) is needed. Try some Surgi-Lube jelly. Be aware, though, if the "patient" gets hard before, during or after insertion, be sure to let the erection subside before trying to insert or remove the sound. To negotiate the curve with the straight Sim sound, try changing the angle of the penis during insertion; however, this requires quite a bit more skill and sensitivity. It may be necessary for the "patient" to "feel" the sound sliding to where it belongs as the "doctor" or "nurse" assists him! Remember, never, ever force this device into the penis!
The diameter of sounds, catheters and some other medical instruments is expressed in the French system. One French unit (Fr) is .33 millimeters (.3mm for ease of discussion). Thus, an instrument which is 20Fr is 20 x .3 = 6mm in diameter (0.24").
The various types of sounds, sound sets and their sizes, shapes and uses vary within the medical profession. For the purpose of scene popularity and availability, we are describing the Hegar set and the Sim sound, named after their inventors. The Hegar sounds are available as an 8 piece set in graduated sizes from 3fr/4fr to 17fr/18fr and are about 22cm (8.25") long in their own zippered carrying case. These sounds have double sizing on each. For example, the 3fr/4fr sound has a 3fr width on the one end to about half way down the sound (11cm or 4.125"), while the other end of the same sound has a diameter of 4fr for its half.
The Sim sound is straight or curved tipped, about 32cm or 12" long which includes a flattened handle on one end and is about .5cm or .125" thick. The Sim sound was designed for medical use as a way to measure the depth of the uterus during pregnancy. It has graduated "notches" along the length of the sound, which are used as a "dip stick"
Sterilizing is very important. Besides the possibility of transmitting HIV, non-sterile procedures can cause bladder infections. After use, wash the sounds in a hot water and soapy anti-bacterial detergent solution (detergents remove surface Surgi-lube jelly and help break down viral coats). Then, soak the cleaned sounds in a bleach solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts H2O) for half an hour. This is specifically to kill the HIV virus. NOTE: use only a plastic or glass tray (a metal tray causes a chemical reaction that will discolor or corrode your sounds. Not recommended for plated, non-stainless steel!)
Another enormously popular medical device for both males and females in the medical BDSM scene is the Speculum. The actual medical application is examination of the rectum or the vagina. Usually, it is made of steel in a duckbill shape with two "jaws" which "open" with a screw-type mechanism, thus, stretching the opening to give a clear view down the center into the vagina or rectum. There are also plastic disposable variations of specula. Objects such as swabs can be inserted through the opening into the orifice. It also allows for pouring cool or warm water into the opening. However here’s another caution, though, DO NOT use water that is too hot and DO NOT use ice since they can permanently damage the delicate tissue lining inside the anus or the vagina.
The slow increase of tension on the opening of the rectum wall or the vaginal cavity is useful in fisting as a way of gradually stretching and relaxing the sphincter or vagina. A lubricant such as Surgi-lube jelly is highly recommended for ease of insertion. The sterilization after use is also imperative. Clean and wash as described in the sounds section and as with the sounds, these medical toys should only be used on one person. We highly recommend that each person plays with his/her own toys always! This being said, if you do choose to use other’s previously used toys, they should be sterilized in an autoclave or a ‘pressure-cooker’ to ensure their complete HIV and STD prevention!
Storage of metal devices, sounds and specula should be in plastic or glass to add to their longevity. This will protect from corrosion and discoloration.
Sound and specula medical play can be a uniquely challenging and stimulating form of BDSM, which can bring new skills and higher levels of experiences to those sharing the scene. As with all scene play, being safe, sane and consensual will assure many hours of deeply rewarding adventures and exploration.

Medical Fetishes I
by Laural Wood, R.n.m.N (Registered No-Mercy Nursey)
At some point in our childhood, we all played nurse or doctor…for those very few who may not have… poor you! That was the premier of all prime opportunities to peek at Little Sally’s who-who or Joey’s thinger and get away with doing some rather advanced forms of innocent sexual perversions! As long as Sally or Joey didn’t tell anyone else, the "sessions" probably continued for weeks and months and maybe longer, assuming the intrigue and excitement held their attention long enough! Otherwise, it was off to the tree fort, riding the banana seat bike or playing with G.I. Joe or Barbie.
So, there it was! The beginning of that fetish, that compulsive desire to explore another in ways that we innately knew was not the norm, but we somehow didn’t care! If allowed, we would have continued exploring it as we grew older, but unfortunately, the hormonal imbalance of adolescence forced us into an awkward self-consciousness. We could hardly be brave enough to ask a date if we could tie them up and insert medical instruments into them "’cause it’s fun!", when we were too afraid to hold a hand or make the first attempt at a kiss! Hence, we decide to stuff our fetish back down into that shadow area of our psyche and only allow it out while alone and masturbating.
Now, we are adults. Free to make decisions of our own; free to be who we want to be. And amazingly, we discover that we are not alone in the fetish world! We realize that our little dark secret is similar to the little dark secret of hundreds, thousands, maybe even millions of others! Yippee! We explore other fetishes. We find groups and societies dedicated to nothing but pure fetish fun! We see how popular and almost trendy it’s become to be "into S&M", bombarded by cigarette, vodka, and even breath mint ads with whips and black boots. Yet, we still feel like the Lone Ranger, because no one is talking about medical fetishes! Yes, we find glimpses of it on the web, but we know pics, jpg’s and gif’s of nurses with their pussy or tits exposed is NOT medical fetish. Europe and Japan offer a foray of tantalizing pictures, posed superbly by professional fetish photographers, but we still don’t get to the meat (…or the heat!) of the matter!
The medical (clinic, as they say in Europe) scene has long been an underground subject. Pulling it out of its underground obscurity is a growing faction of fetish medical enthusiasts. Evidence of this is everywhere! Latex and PVC designed nurses outfits, the imagery laid out in every form of media, from J-F Soyez’s photography to Soryama’s lithographs as well as the countless webpages, claiming to have the best in medical fetish! However, writings on the subject are very scarce. Our need for knowledge and an intelligent approach to this fetish is blatantly deficient.
Therefore, in this article, and future articles, we will delve into the world of clinical, medical fetishes. We will look at the history of medical fetish play, unveiling the secrets Grandma or Great Granddad would never divulge! After all, what fantasies do you think were swimming around the heads of those wounded soldiers as Florence Nightingale gave them a sponge bath? Then, if we dare, we will attempt to analyze the psychology of medical play. Why do we get a kick out of this stuff in the first place? Another article on the "how-to" of safety and preparation for this sort of play, explains the need for education as a precursor to preventing accidents! We will also list the terminology and explanations of use of each unique instrument from both their actual medical uses to their use in fetish play. And we will demonstrate the methodology and instructional advice for medical play beginning with the basics for getting started, including the complete doctor bag tools, et al.
Our desire to educate, enlighten and encourage safe, sane and consensual medical scene play is paramount! Any of the information gathered, translated and regurgitated here is purely for those reasons. Individual adults taking on the right to act out their fetishism or fantasy under his/her own free will, do so with complete and sole responsibility. We can only underscore, again, do it with utmost respect, safety, complete information and a genuine understanding of the role to be played out.

Playboy Radio & TSR Network
Last week was an eventful one for the owners of MedicalToys.com, Laural & Sebastian Wood, as they appeared Playboy Radio’s Night Calls on Friday evening Sept. 18th and on TSR Network (Talking Sex Radio) new internet TV/Radio program on Monday, Sept. 21st.
Playboy’s Radio host, Nicki Hunter bubbled over with enthusiasm as she cajoled and taunted her listening audience with vivid descriptions of the medical fetish bondage gear and devices that Nurse Laural and Doc Sebastian brought along for the one hour radio interview. A devious plan to wrap the luscious Nicki in an authentic institutional straitjacket, went awry at the end of the interview, when Nicki turned the tables on the Doc, putting him in a very compromising position with her wrapping his testicles instead! He handled it very well, remaining cool, calm and collected!
Talking Sex Radio host, Rev Mel brought Laural and Sebastian as her first guests in her new studio and everything went perfectly! The internet audience watched the live feed from her new facility as she questioned the Nurse and Doc about how they met (along with quite a few other personal details, too!) and medical fetish scene play. Kelly Shibari stopped by to visit and unwittingly became the naughty patient that Laural and Sebastian used as their very willing subject. The audience was treated to the gorgeous naked Kelly bound in the new "Seduction" restraints from neck to feet! Later Mel fell under the medical fetish spell as she was wrapped in a leather straitjacket. The first show in the new studio ended after 2 hours of medical mischief and mayhem with Mel, Kelly and the tech and camera crew thanking Nurse Laural and Doc Sebastian and making a note to have them come back for their Anniversary show.
